Bookkeeping, by people

The books stay in order. Someone answers when you call.

You send invoices and questions through a private portal. A bookkeeper works the month with you and picks up the phone.

A forest-green cloth ledger stamped with a gold ampersand.
A ledger you can hold. The portal is where the month lives.
Invoices, a green folder, glasses, and a wax-sealed envelope on linen.
Paper still arrives. We file it so you do not hunt.
A quiet bookkeeping office with a wooden desk and a wall of ledgers.
A small office. Most of the paper moves through the portal.

What you get

A person, a portal, and a way to send files without a scavenger hunt.

A bookkeeper who picks up

Questions belong on the phone as much as they belong in a message. You will have a person at the firm, not a ticket number.

A private web portal

Uploads, messages, statements, bills, year-end, and the scan queue all live in one place. You do not have to wonder which email held last month’s file.

A folder on your computer

If invoices already live on one machine, you can install a small program and point it at a folder you choose. What you drop there shows up in the portal. You install it on purpose. It does not hide.

The month

You keep running the shop. We keep the month from getting away from you.

Each month your bookkeeper reconciles the accounts, asks about the odd invoice, and posts statements to the portal. If a number looks off, write us there or call. We would rather hear it the same day.

You do not have to be tidy before you start. Catch-up is ordinary work for us.

What we take on

The Ledger and Co private portal, statements listed by month.
The portal: statements, bills, and the scan queue in one place.

How it works

Four steps, then the ordinary rhythm of a month.

We talk

Write us from the contact page. Tell us how you keep books today, who does payroll, and what your tax person needs at year-end. If we are not a fit, we will say so.

You get a portal login

That is where you upload files, read statements, pay attention to bills, and write to your bookkeeper. Most of the work happens there on purpose, so nothing lives in a long email chain.

You may install a small program

On the computer where invoices and scans already live, you can install a folder helper. You choose the folder. You can turn it off. It does not read your email or take over the screen. Read what it does and does not do.

The month gets worked

Your bookkeeper posts questions in the portal and will pick up the phone. Statements come back the same way. Year-end is a packet, not a surprise.

Who this is for

Main Street shops, crews, clinics, churches, and farms.

We work with people who already run a business and need the books kept without a scavenger hunt. If you want a person and a portal, this is in the right neighborhood.

We do not list client names on this site. We do not post reviews we invented. If you want to know whether the work is a fit, text us and we will talk through a real month.

A first conversation

Text the firm. We will tell you if we can take the work.

Write from the contact page. We write back the same day. Bring whatever you already have. A pile is a fine place to start.
